As ArlingtonAnswers.com gets under way we’ve been getting to know people in our town through some Dive-in-Movies around the pools at various apartment communities.  I sat down and met a young single mom who has two daughters.  She said she has been in Arlington for a few years but hasn’t made too many friends.  Some of the ArlingtonAnswers.com staff taught her to play “chickenfoot” with dominoes as her daughter made crafts with another staffer.  She said that all she expected when she came to the event was just to get a hotdog supper for she and her daughter but what she actually found in addition to a free supper were friends, an invitation to a local church (which she has plugged into) and fun, far more than she expected.

Tim W. said, “Nothing she could have told me could have blessed me more”.

During the course of the evening, I had a number of conversations with single moms and dads; all expressed appreciation for the meal and interest in ArlingtonAnswers.com workshops.

Several shared a bit of their personal stories as well; their struggle to raise their kids and earn a living in a tough economy and a hostile world.

We had one lady who signed up (for the Family workshop “Parenting Your Child”) at the pool party that came only once — on our second-to-last week. We had the opportunity to pray with her and encourage her as well. She recognizes her need for the Lord. She stopped by our last class as we were cleaning up and apologized for not being able to come to our class. She asked when we would do it again, because she knew she needed it and really wanted to have another opportunity. She left with our number – and the ArlingtonAnswers.com website – and hopes to be sitting with us at church on Sunday.

We also had one very faithful attendee who was thrilled with Arlington Answers. She learned about it from a sign in someone’s yard. She felt she got a wealth of information and will encourage others to come when we get started again.
